This is the question that stops most people picking up the phone. It is less frightening than it sounds, and for most of the jobs on this page it barely applies at all.
An asbestos survey comes before demolition. Kentucky expects a thorough asbestos survey to be carried out before demolition activities begin. If that survey finds regulated asbestos-containing material, notification and abatement follow; if it finds none, no state notification is mandated.
The state notification does not apply to most homes. The requirement covers a commercial or school building, or an apartment dwelling with more than four units. A single-family house, and smaller residential buildings, sit outside it. So for the deck, the shed, the fence and most interior gut work on this page, this section is background rather than an obstacle.
Where it does apply, notice is filed on Form ID 70 through Kentucky's eForms system at least ten working days before work starts. That ten days is a real scheduling constraint, not a formality: it is the main reason a small commercial teardown cannot start next week.
Permits are local, not statewide. Each city sets its own wrecking permit requirements, and they can ask for more than the state does. Lexington-Fayette, for instance, requires an asbestos report from a private agency for a wrecking permit regardless of the building type, with proof of abatement if it comes back positive. Crown handles the permit process as part of the job.
This is a plain-English summary, not legal or regulatory advice, and rules change. We clear and demolish; we are not an asbestos abatement contractor, and where abatement is needed it is a licensed specialist's job. For what applies to your building, the Division for Air Quality and your city's building inspection office are the authorities, or send us photos and we will tell you which category you are likely in. Send photos and ask
Most residential structure removals across Central Kentucky fall into a gap between commercial wreckers and junk haulers. Industrial demolition companies charge heavy equipment overhead for garage and shed teardowns, while junk removal crews lack the machinery to safely dismantle real buildings. CROWN provides specialized light demolition and total debris haul-off under one roof.
Commercial wrecking companies quote garage teardowns like industrial construction jobs, passing on high equipment overhead. Junk removal crews will haul debris, but only after someone else dismantles the structure. Coordinating two separate companies and a rental dumpster turns a simple one-day removal into a three-week hassle.
Our in-house team handles both the structural tear-down and the complete debris removal. Because CROWN owns its own fleet of trucks and dumpsters, there are zero third-party markups or disposal delays. You get transparent published pricing and a clean, build-ready footprint.
Very quick from contact to in home to remove some flooring. Once on site they got straight to work and did an outstanding job! Very reasonable price for the work done. Will continue to use them for all future needs.
Real ranges for real jobs. Almost nobody in this market publishes them, which tells you more about the market than about the work.
Walls, drywall, insulation, flooring, ceilings and fixtures. Priced on rooms and what is behind them.
Residential and small commercial. Permits, utility disconnects and disposal volume drive this one.
Sheds, barns, garages and small structures, hauled away complete.
Driveways, slabs, sidewalks, foundations. Weight and access move this more than area does.
Wood, composite and concrete decks and porches, including the footings.
Wood, chain-link, vinyl and metal. Usually priced by the running foot and the post type.
Our smallest published jobs start around $200. We are set up for structures and full rooms rather than single-item pickups. If you need one item taken away, junk removal is the right page.

We remove all debris and leave your property clean and ready for the next step.
Extremely helpful and nice, was hired for land clearing and site preparation they removed pesky honey suckle. Definitely going to hire them in the future.
Very hard workers that cleaned out a whole house that was trashed and filthy. Very polite and considered. Would definitely recommend this company!
Based in Lexington, working the surrounding counties. Structures are a full-day job, so drive time matters less here than it does on a small haul.
The six we get asked most, answered properly rather than deflected to a phone call.
Send a couple of photos. If it turns out to be a cleanout or a clearing job we'll say so and point you at the right page. It costs you nothing either way.
(859) 213-6077For a structure, almost always, but the permit is issued locally, not by the state, so the requirements depend on your city. A wrecking permit typically calls for proof of insurance, utility and sewer disconnects, an asbestos report, notification of nearby property owners and a written demolition plan. Decks, fences and most interior work generally do not need one. We handle the permit process as part of the job, and we will tell you at quote stage whether yours needs one.
Kentucky expects an asbestos survey before demolition. The state's notification requirement applies to commercial and school buildings and apartment dwellings with more than four units; single-family homes and smaller residential buildings sit outside it, so for most jobs on this page it does not apply. Where it does, notice is filed at least ten working days before work starts. Note that a local wrecking permit can require an asbestos report even when the state notification does not; Lexington-Fayette is one example. We are not an asbestos abatement contractor; where abatement is needed it is a licensed specialist's job, and we will tell you that rather than work around it.
Interior gutting runs $1,500 to $6,000 and up. A house or small building is $4,000 to $15,000 and up. A shed or outbuilding is $500 to $1,800 and up, concrete $400 to $2,500 and up, a deck or porch $400 to $2,000 and up, and a fence $200 to $1,200 and up. What moves the number is what the thing is built of, whether a truck can reach it, how much disposal volume it produces, and whether permits and utility disconnects are involved.
Most decks, fences, sheds and concrete slabs are a single day. Interior gutting usually runs one to several days depending on the number of rooms. A house or small building is longer, and the schedule is usually set by the permit and the utility disconnects rather than by the demolition itself, which is why we ask about your deadline at quote stage rather than after.
Yes, and it is priced into the quote rather than added afterwards. We run our own trucks and dumpsters, so the disposal is not subcontracted. On a demolition job the disposal is genuinely most of what you are paying for, which is the main reason we can publish prices at all.
Yes, licensed, bonded and insured, and EPA compliant. A wrecking permit will normally require a certificate of insurance naming the city as holder and covering wrecking specifically, and we carry it. Ask and we will send the certificate before you commit to anything.
Two or three photos and your ZIP is enough to price most demolition jobs. No site visit, no callback to wait on, and a real number rather than a range.
