Overgrown Lot Clearing
The one that arrives with a letter.
Vacant lots, rentals between tenants and back halves of properties that got away.
Overgrown lot clearing, in detailOvergrown lots, brush, honeysuckle and small trees, cleared and hauled off, not mulched and left on your ground. Clark County is a short run east, and the thing worth settling before you book here is how tall the standing timber is.

Winchester’s nuisance chapter is published somewhere we could not read it, so this page does something no other page here does: it tells you what it does not know.
Every other city page on this site quotes that town’s figure from its own ordinance. We could not retrieve Winchester’s, so there is no figure on this page. A height somebody mows to, or does not, is exactly the sort of detail that should not be inferred from a neighboring county.
Across the counties we could verify the limit runs from ten inches to twelve, and the exemptions vary more than the numbers, so assuming is the mistake, whichever way you assume.
Winchester runs its own code enforcement, and it will tell you the figure, the deadline and whether your property is even in scope faster than any page could. If you have had a notice, it cites the ordinance on it.
Send us a photo of the notice with the photos of the lot. We price the clearing; the ordinance is theirs to interpret, and we would rather route you correctly than sound authoritative.
Every job here ends the same way: the material on a truck and off your property. See the full land clearing service

Overgrown lot clearing, in detail
Under about 20 feet, and we check first.
Volunteers, saplings and the stumps they leave. On this side of the area it is the sub-service most likely to need an honest no.
Tree removal & stump grinding
Drives, fence lines, access routes.
Clearing a line rather than an area: getting equipment in and sight lines back.
Right-of-way clearing
Clearing to a plan.
Pads, drives and outbuilding sites made workable rather than just tidy.
Site preparation
Ground that stopped being grazed.
Clark County has working land past the bypass. Reclaiming it is priced by the acre.
Pasture & field reclamationThe most common wasted call we get anywhere is about a tree that was always going to be too big. Two minutes in the garden settles it, and it saves you a morning.
Use a door. A standard external door is about seven feet. Three doors stacked is twenty-one, so if the tree is clearly taller than three doors, it is over our limit and you want a certified arborist rather than a clearing crew. Under two doors and it is squarely ours.
Use your own house. On a typical two-story house the gutter line sits somewhere around eighteen to twenty feet. A tree below the gutter is almost always in scope; one well above the roof is not.
Photograph it with something in the frame. A person, a car, a fence panel, a wheelie bin: anything of known size. A photograph of a tree against nothing but sky is unmeasurable, and it is the single most common reason we have to come back and ask.
Why the line exists at all. Above roughly twenty feet the work changes: rigging, drop zones, what is underneath, and proximity to power. That is a different trade with different kit and different insurance. Clearing a lot of saplings and brush is our job; taking down standing timber over a roof is not, and the useful version of that sentence is the one you get before you book rather than on the day.
This limit is CROWN’s own and it is published on the tree removal page in plain terms. If your job is a mix (brush and saplings plus one big tree), say so and we will clear what is ours and tell you honestly what is left for somebody else.
The same published ranges as the main land clearing service. A page about one town should not quote you a different number from the page about the service.
Light brush and undergrowth. A back corner, a side yard, a fence line that’s got away from you.
Dense brush and small trees. A full honeysuckle thicket, or ground that hasn’t been touched in years.
Clearing plus rough grading, worked to your plan rather than to a tidy-up.
PLACEHOLDER: three real Clark County jobs, before and after. Name the road or the part of the county in each caption; that detail is the part a competitor cannot copy.
CROWN’s own published list of the parts of Winchester and Clark County we work most often.
Outside Clark County? We clear land across Central Kentucky: Lexington, Georgetown, Nicholasville, Richmond, Frankfort, Versailles and Paris. The rule described above is this town’s own; every one of the eight sets its own and the figures genuinely differ.
Extremely helpful and nice, was hired for land clearing and site preparation they removed pesky honey suckle. Definitely going to hire them in the future.
Very quick from contact to in home to remove some flooring. Once on site they got straight to work and did an outstanding job! Very reasonable price for the work done. Will continue to use them for all future needs.
Very hard workers that cleaned out a whole house that was trashed and filthy. Very polite and considered. Would definitely recommend this company!
If yours isn’t here, call: we’d rather answer it before you book than after.
Send the photos with the address and a picture of the notice. Whether the date is workable is the first thing we come back on, not the last.
(859) 213-6077We could not source Winchester’s ordinance to a document, so there is no figure on this page, and a number somebody mows to is not a thing to infer from a neighboring county. Across the Central Kentucky counties we could verify, the limit runs between ten and twelve inches and the exemptions differ more than the figures do. Winchester’s own code enforcement is the authority; if you have had a notice it will cite the ordinance on it.
Stack doors. A standard external door is roughly seven feet, so three of them is about twenty-one: clearly taller than three doors and it is an arborist’s job rather than ours. On a two-story house the gutter line is a similar marker at around eighteen to twenty feet. Easiest of all, photograph it with a person or a car in the frame; a tree against nothing but sky cannot be measured from a picture, and that is the commonest reason we have to come back and ask.
We will clear what is ours and tell you plainly what is not, rather than quoting the lot and discovering the problem on the day. In practice that usually means we take the brush, the saplings and the stumps, and you get a tree service in for the one that is over the limit, often cheaper for you in that order, because they are pricing one tree rather than a day of clearing around it.
Yes, unless the stumps are treated. It resprouts from the stump, so cutting alone does not kill it: lasting control takes repeated cutting over several years or a herbicide treatment on the cut stumps. We cut, load and haul; we do not spray. The Clark County Extension office can advise on stump treatment, and it is a much smaller job once the thicket is down.
We haul it away. Mulching grinds the brush and leaves the chips where they fell; we run our own trucks, so the material leaves the property and the haul-off is priced into the quote rather than added afterwards. On a wooded lot that difference is a lot of volume.
A small residential lot with light brush and undergrowth runs $400 to $1,200, a medium or overgrown lot $1,200 to $3,500 and up, and full site preparation is quoted on the plan. Tree work is priced separately, by height and by stump. These are the same figures as our main land clearing page: where you landed does not change what a job costs.
A person, a car or a fence panel in the frame and we can tell you in minutes whether it is our job or an arborist’s. Add the address and any notice you have had, and you get the clearing price with it.
