Pasture & Field Reclamation
Ground that stopped being grazed.
Paddocks and fields lost to brush, brought back. Priced by the acre, and the tier most Woodford jobs land in.
Pasture & field reclamationFence lines, paddock edges, overgrown lots and small trees, cleared and hauled off, not mulched and left on your ground. Woodford County is working horse country, and most of what we clear here runs along something somebody paid a lot for.

Versailles enforces this through a Code Enforcement Board, which changes what happens after the first notice more than it changes the number.
The figure is twelve inches. Versailles’ Code Enforcement Board treats overgrown grass greater than twelve inches tall as a civil violation. That is two inches more than Fayette and Madison allow and the same as Jessamine, which is a fair summary of why assuming one county’s rule applies in the next one is a bad idea.
Board enforcement means a civil citation, not just a request. The code enforcement officer can issue citations carrying fines and fees rather than only asking you to cut it. That is a different posture from a notice that simply sets a date.
And the city can recover what abatement costs it. Where the city ends up having the work done, those expenses can be recovered and a lien filed against the property. A lien does not announce itself: it surfaces when you go to sell or refinance, which is usually the worst possible moment to discover a mowing bill from three summers ago.
Which makes the arithmetic simple. Whatever clearing costs, having it done for you and billed through a lien costs more, and costs it at a time you do not choose. Code Enforcement is at 196 South Main Street on (859) 873-5436 and will tell you exactly where your property stands.
This is a plain-English summary, not legal advice, and codes change. The city’s Code Enforcement office is the authority on what applies to your address and on anything already filed against it. Send photos and ask

Pasture & field reclamation
Along the fence, not through it.
Drives, fence lines and boundaries. In this county that usually means clearing up to maintained fencing rather than derelict wire.
Right-of-way clearing
The one that arrives with a letter.
Vacant lots and neglected parcels inside the city, where the twelve-inch rule applies.
Overgrown lot clearing, in detail
Clearing to a plan.
Pads, drives, barn and outbuilding sites made workable.
Site preparation
Under about 20 feet. Taller is a tree service.
Volunteers along fence lines and the stumps they leave behind.
Tree removal & stump grindingWoodford County is working horse country, and that changes the job in one specific way: the thing the growth is attached to is usually valuable and still in use.
Painted board and plank fencing is maintained, expensive and load-bearing for stock. Brush and vines growing into it cannot be pulled out with a machine without taking rails, posts or paint with them, and a damaged rail is a repair bill plus a horse problem.
So it is cut, released and pulled clear by hand along the run, which is slower per foot than open ground and priced accordingly.
What stays and what goes: the fence itself, gate posts, any established planting you want kept, how far back from the line we work, and whether stock will be off that paddock while we are in it.
On a shared boundary that conversation is worth having with the neighbor as well. It is five minutes and it prevents the only complaint this kind of job ever produces.
The same published ranges as the main land clearing service. A page about one town should not quote you a different number from the page about the service.
Light brush and undergrowth. A back corner, a side yard, a fence line that’s got away from you.
Dense brush and small trees. A full honeysuckle thicket, or ground that hasn’t been touched in years.
Clearing plus rough grading, worked to your plan rather than to a tidy-up.
PLACEHOLDER: three real Woodford County jobs, before and after. Name the road or the part of the county in each caption; that detail is the part a competitor cannot copy.
CROWN’s own published list of the parts of Versailles and Woodford County we work most often.
Outside Woodford County? We clear land across Central Kentucky: Lexington, Georgetown, Nicholasville, Richmond, Frankfort, Winchester and Paris. The rule described above is this town’s own; every one of the eight sets its own and the figures genuinely differ.
Extremely helpful and nice, was hired for land clearing and site preparation they removed pesky honey suckle. Definitely going to hire them in the future.
Very quick from contact to in home to remove some flooring. Once on site they got straight to work and did an outstanding job! Very reasonable price for the work done. Will continue to use them for all future needs.
Very hard workers that cleaned out a whole house that was trashed and filthy. Very polite and considered. Would definitely recommend this company!
If yours isn’t here, call: we’d rather answer it before you book than after.
Send the photos with the address and a picture of the notice. Whether the date is workable is the first thing we come back on, not the last.
(859) 213-6077Twelve inches. The city’s Code Enforcement Board treats overgrown grass greater than twelve inches as a civil violation. Note that it is two inches more than Fayette and Madison counties allow, so do not carry a figure across from a neighboring county: the numbers genuinely differ across an area you can drive over in an hour. Code Enforcement is at 196 South Main Street on (859) 873-5436.
It becomes the expensive way of getting it cut. The code enforcement officer can issue a civil citation carrying fines and fees, and where the city ends up having the work done it can recover those expenses and file a lien against the property. A lien sits quietly until you sell or refinance, which is the worst moment to meet an old mowing bill. Clearing it yourself, or having anyone clear it, is cheaper than the alternative in every version of this.
That is the part of this job we price for. Growth into painted board or plank fencing has to be cut, released and pulled clear by hand rather than dragged out with a machine, because a machine takes rails and posts with the brush. We agree what is protected before anything is cut (the fence, the gate posts, any planting you want kept), and we would rather you told us the fence is already damaged in places, because it changes the method rather than the price.
Tell us at quote stage and we will plan around it. Whether animals need to be off a paddock while we are working it depends on what we are clearing and how, and it is the sort of thing that should be settled before a crew arrives rather than at the gate. It affects sequencing more than cost.
Yes, unless the stumps are treated. It resprouts, so cutting alone does not kill it: lasting control means repeated cutting over several years or a herbicide treatment on the cut stumps. We cut, load and haul; we do not spray. The Woodford County Extension office is the right place to ask what goes on the stumps, and it is a far smaller job once the thicket is down.
A small residential lot with light brush and undergrowth runs $400 to $1,200, a medium or overgrown lot $1,200 to $3,500 and up, and full site preparation is quoted on the plan. Acreage reclamation is priced by the acre. These are the same figures as our main land clearing page. Fence-line work prices by the running foot rather than the area, because the length is what the job actually is.
Photos along the run or across the paddock, the address, and a note of anything that must not be touched: fencing, gates, planting. On fence work, a rough length gets you a band before we even look.
