Pasture & Field Reclamation
Ground that stopped being grazed.
Bourbon County is farming country. Reclaiming fields and paddocks is priced by the acre and is most of what we do here.
Pasture & field reclamationOvergrown lots, reclaimed pasture, fence lines and small trees, cleared and hauled off, not mulched and left on your ground. Paris publishes the tightest timetable of any town we work, and it is worth knowing before the letter arrives rather than after.

Every town we work will eventually abate an overgrown lot for you. Paris is the one that publishes how fast, and it is faster than people expect.
Five days’ written notice. Under § 50.201 the city gives five days’ written notice to put it right. That is the shortest published window of any town in our service area, and it is short enough that “I will get to it at the weekend” is not always a plan.
Then the city can employ the labour itself, and under § 50.202 the cost is assessed against the lot as a lien, with a $75 administrative fee on top. You do not get to choose the contractor, the price or the standard of the work, and the charge attaches to the property rather than to you personally.
The height is ten inches on developed property, under § 50.200(A), excepting trees, bushes, flowers and other ornamental plants.
There is an agricultural exemption, but you have to ask for it. § 50.200(C) allows a property in bona fide agricultural use to be exempted on petition to the City Engineer or the code enforcement official. Note the difference from Fayette County, where agricultural land is simply exempt: here it is something you apply for. If you farm ground inside the city limits and have never petitioned, that is worth an afternoon.
This is a plain-English summary of a city ordinance, not legal advice, and codes change. The city is the authority on your address, on any notice already issued and on the agricultural petition. Send photos and ask

Pasture & field reclamation
The one with five days on it.
Vacant lots and neglected parcels inside the city, where the clock is shorter than anywhere else we work.
Overgrown lot clearing, in detail
Drives, fence lines, access routes.
Clearing a line rather than an area, and on a vacant lot, the boundary strip is the part the ordinance cares about most.
Right-of-way clearing
Clearing to a plan.
Pads, drives, barn and outbuilding sites made workable rather than tidy.
Site preparation
Under about 20 feet. Taller is a tree service.
Volunteers along old fence lines and the stumps they leave.
Tree removal & stump grindingThis is the most unusual provision in any ordinance across our eight towns, and it is genuinely useful if you own an empty parcel here.
On property with no structure on it, the ordinance holds the ten-inch limit only within fifteen feet of the boundaries. That strip is what the street, the neighbors and the code officer actually see, and it is what the rule is really protecting.
Which is a much smaller mowing job than the whole parcel, and a much smaller clearing job if it has got away from you.
The remaining portion of a vacant lot is allowed up to fifteen inches. The middle of an empty parcel can legally be rougher than its edges, which is the opposite of how most people assume these rules work.
If you own vacant ground here, clearing and maintaining the perimeter band is often the whole of what compliance actually requires. Ask us to price that rather than the full parcel and it is a different number.
The same published ranges as the main land clearing service. A page about one town should not quote you a different number from the page about the service.
Light brush and undergrowth. A back corner, a side yard, a fence line that’s got away from you.
Dense brush and small trees. A full honeysuckle thicket, or ground that hasn’t been touched in years.
Clearing plus rough grading, worked to your plan rather than to a tidy-up.
PLACEHOLDER: three real Bourbon County jobs, before and after. Name the road or the part of the county in each caption; that detail is the part a competitor cannot copy.
CROWN’s own published list of the parts of Paris and Bourbon County we work most often.
Outside Bourbon County? We clear land across Central Kentucky: Lexington, Georgetown, Nicholasville, Richmond, Frankfort, Winchester and Versailles. The rule described above is this town’s own; every one of the eight sets its own and the figures genuinely differ.
Extremely helpful and nice, was hired for land clearing and site preparation they removed pesky honey suckle. Definitely going to hire them in the future.
Very quick from contact to in home to remove some flooring. Once on site they got straight to work and did an outstanding job! Very reasonable price for the work done. Will continue to use them for all future needs.
Very hard workers that cleaned out a whole house that was trashed and filthy. Very polite and considered. Would definitely recommend this company!
If yours isn’t here, call: we’d rather answer it before you book than after.
Send the photos with the address and a picture of the notice. Whether the date is workable is the first thing we come back on, not the last.
(859) 213-6077Five days’ written notice under § 50.201, the shortest published window of any town we work. After that the city can employ the labour itself, and under § 50.202 the cost is assessed against the lot as a lien with a $75 administrative fee added. You do not choose the contractor or the price, and the charge attaches to the property. If you have a notice with a date on it, send us a photo of it with the photos of the lot and we will tell you straight away whether we can hit it.
Ten inches on property with a structure on it, under § 50.200(A), excepting trees, bushes, flowers and other ornamental plants. A vacant lot is different: the ten-inch limit applies within fifteen feet of the boundaries, and the remainder of the parcel is allowed up to fifteen inches. That two-tier rule is unusual and it is worth knowing, because it can make compliance a perimeter job rather than a whole-parcel one.
Possibly, but not automatically, and this is the difference that catches people. § 50.200(C) allows a property in bona fide agricultural use to be exempted on petition to the City Engineer or the code enforcement official. In Fayette County agricultural land is simply exempt; here it is something you apply for. If you have farmed ground inside the limits for years without petitioning, that is worth sorting out before a notice rather than after.
Whichever you ask for, and on a vacant lot here that is a real choice rather than a technicality. Because the tighter limit applies within fifteen feet of the boundaries, clearing and maintaining the perimeter band is often all compliance actually needs, and it is a considerably smaller job than the full parcel. Tell us which you want priced; we will quote either and say which we think you need.
Yes, unless the stumps are treated. It resprouts from the stump, so cutting alone does not kill it: lasting control means repeated cutting over several years or a herbicide treatment on the cut stumps. We cut, load and haul; we do not spray. The Bourbon County Extension office can advise on stump treatment, and the job is far smaller once the thicket is already down.
A small residential lot with light brush and undergrowth runs $400 to $1,200, a medium or overgrown lot $1,200 to $3,500 and up, and full site preparation is quoted on the plan. Acreage reclamation is priced by the acre. These are the same figures as our main land clearing page. If the job is a perimeter band on a vacant lot rather than the whole parcel, say so: it prices differently and usually lower.
Photos of the lot, the address, and a photo of the notice if you have one. It carries the date, and the date is the only part of this that is not negotiable: we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.
